The Jack Miller Center for the Treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy Established with the Generous Gift from the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy

In 2006, the Jack Miller Center for the Treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy, within the University Pain Centers, affiliated with the Rush Department of Anesthesiology, was established through the generous charitable support of the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy.

The center is the inspiration of Jack Miller, the founder, past chairman and president of Quill Corp. and the Chairman, Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy.  Mr. Miller himself has suffered from peripheral neuropathic pain since 1995 and has dedicated time and resources to the development of programs that seek the causes of this "hidden disorder" and that work to identify potential cures and/or new treatments for the condition.   In 2006, the Jack and Goldies Wolfe Miller Family Foundation approached the leadership at Rush North Shore Medical Center seeking to expand their efforts for better treatment of those suffering from peripheral neuropathy, they immediately identified the Rush team that could successfully bring his concept to life.

As one of the largest pain centers in the United States, University Pain Centers, which is affiliated with the Rush Department of Anesthesiology, already provides acute and chronic pain management services to more than 10,000 patients annually.  Its Rush faculty physicians are nationally recognized experts in the field of pain research and have extensive experience in providing successful treatment for a broad range of pain disorders using a comprehensive, systematic, and multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of pain with the entire spectrum of interventional modalities, pharmacology, psychology, and alternative medical techniques. The Miller foundation gift has provided the opportunity for UPC to create a new treatment center specifically for patients with peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain.

The Center will incorporate patient education programs that will inform through lectures, a new web site, and through individualized sessions, patients and their families on the diagnosis and treatment options available to those with the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy.  the new website, UniversityPainCenters.com has a special section devoted to the new center and its mission.

Still another focus of the new Center will be a clinical research program that will offer investigational therapies as well as collaborative efforts with other centers such as the Peripheral Nerve Center at Johns Hopkins in Balitmore, Maryland and the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation new Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy Comprehensive Care Clinic, and the University Of Chicago's Jack Miller Center for Peripheral Neuropathy. We hope that you join us in thanking the Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Foundation for their generous gift. For more information about the Foundation, visit the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy website.
